I have read Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion, WWII’s Forgotten Heroes. It was an excellent read.
After doing some research about the 761st and specifically, Staff Sergeant Ruben Rivers, I decided to start a petition to get a highway in Oklahoma named after him.

A little over a year ago, I started a petition and letter writing campaign to get the state of Oklahoma to honor Medal of Honor recipient, SSG Ruben Rivers by naming a highway after him. With the help of State Senator Charlie Laster and his office, a bill was signed into law naming a stretch of highway in Tecumseh, OK (SSG Ruben Rivers’ home town) after him.

I know this is short notice, but I wanted to let you know that the naming ceremony for the Ruben Rivers Memorial Highway has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Slick Humphrey Park on the 13th & Walnut in Tecumseh, OK. Knowing your personal interest in the story, and the fact that it was a large part of my drive to get the memorial to him, I am inviting you to the ceremony.

Is there any way you can help me find any of SSG Rivers’ family members? Senator Laster certainly would like to invite any family members.
